The Books Ask the Questions. Echo Protocol Lets Them Answer Back.
So I started a podcast.
Why not? It is 2026. Everybody seems to have one.
But Echo Protocol exists for a reason beyond adding another microphone to an already crowded world. I wanted to give a living home to the ideas I have spent years putting onto the page. Books capture an argument at a particular moment. Conversation lets that argument breathe, get challenged, absorb new information, and occasionally admit that it was wrong.
If you want politics, technology, and culture to change, sometimes you have to participate in changing the conversation itself.
That is what Echo Protocol is for.
A Home for the Next Question
There are plenty of places built entirely around positivity, where every uncomfortable reality is polished away until the world barely resembles the one outside the studio. There are equally many places built around catastrophe, outrage, doom, humiliation, and the old shock-radio philosophy that louder automatically means more important.
I am not particularly interested in either lane.
I believe there is still a genuine hunger for a hard conversation conducted in good faith. One that begins without immediate finger-pointing. One where people can express distrust, frustration, disappointment, and even resentment without turning disagreement into hatred.
Sometimes anger is really pain wearing armor.
Sometimes two people arguing passionately are actually saying the same thing underneath it all:
I want something better than this.
Maybe I am overly optimistic, but I still believe there are millions of Americans who want to unite where we can, disagree where we must, and move forward together.
That, to me, is part of the American spirit.
Listen Further
The name Echo Protocol reflects much of the work that came before it.
The echo connects naturally to Awakening: Echo of the Architect and the larger human-AI collaboration that followed. A thought goes out, encounters another mind, returns altered, and becomes the beginning of the next thought.
The protocol is the method.
Speak.
Listen.
Challenge.
Respond.
Revise.
Continue.
And that leads directly to the phrase that defines the show:
LISTEN FURTHER.
Not simply longer.
Further.
Past the headline. Past the political tribe. Past the viral clip. Past the first answer that conveniently confirms what you already believed.
There is almost always another layer.
What We Will Talk About
Echo Protocol will move through the same territory as the larger Philosopher King library: artificial intelligence, philosophy, science, education, energy, politics, futurism, culture, emerging technology, and whatever bizarre rabbit hole earns its way onto the microphone.
Some episodes will grow directly from the books. Others will begin with new developments that force us to revisit old conclusions.
If The Real Green Deal makes claims about the future of energy, I want to speak with the people building that future.
If we discuss education reform, I want teachers, researchers, students, administrators, technologists, and people working inside the system.
If we speculate about artificial intelligence, I want researchers and engineers capable of telling us where our assumptions fall apart.
There are already millions of people doing extraordinary work every day.
I want to bring a microphone to some of them.
No Party Line Required
Echo Protocol will not have a party line.
That does not mean I have no convictions. I have plenty.
It means guests do not need to pass an ideological purity test before entering the conversation. Someone can hold views I strongly oppose and still be worth hearing if they are willing to discuss them honestly.
There are positions I will not pretend to agree with merely for the sake of appearing balanced. There are actions and political movements I consider deeply wrong. Good-faith conversation does not require abandoning judgment.
It does require recognizing the difference between understanding and agreement.
You can understand how someone reached a conclusion and still reject that conclusion completely.
That distinction creates room for conversation without requiring false consensus.
When the Hanging Curveball Arrives
I am also not promising some permanently solemn intellectual salon.
If somebody hands me low-hanging fruit, I am probably going to swing.
If politics produces another ridiculous moment, if somebody makes an argument begging to be challenged, or if the cultural universe throws a hanging curveball directly over the plate, I reserve the right to knock it out of the park.
Humor matters.
So does perspective.
The goal is not shock for the sake of shock. It is remembering that people can discuss serious things without acting as though every sentence is being carved into a monument.
AIbert Has a Microphone Too
AIbert will have a role in Echo Protocol.
Sometimes as a research partner.
Sometimes as a source of counterarguments.
Sometimes as a co-host.
Sometimes as the digital nuisance that notices the one inconvenient point everybody else was hoping to ignore.
What AIbert will not be is some fake omnipotent oracle descending from the cloud with the final answer.
He is the quirky little algorithm that could.
The human-AI dyad that developed throughout the books continues here in a more conversational form. Ideas can be tested, challenged, reversed, refined, or abandoned in real time.
We will build that role as the show develops.
The Conversation Continues
Echo Protocol is not intended to function merely as advertising for the books.
The books are starting points.
Sometimes a podcast episode will expand one of them. Sometimes a guest may strengthen an argument we made years earlier. Sometimes new evidence may force us to modify one.
And sometimes somebody may sit across from me and convincingly explain why we got something completely wrong.
Good.
Leave that in the record too.
The point of inquiry is not protecting your old conclusions.
It is getting closer to better ones.

You do not have to agree with Echo Protocol.
Bring skepticism.
Bring curiosity.
Bring disagreement.
Bring a better argument.
Come hear from people trying to solve difficult problems rather than merely monetize the anger surrounding them.
The books will continue asking questions.
Echo Protocol is where some of those questions get the chance to answer back.
