In our pursuit of a sustainable future, the Green New Deal has emerged as a beacon of hope and innovation. This ambitious plan seeks to overhaul America’s energy grid, transitioning it to 100% renewable sources. One of the key strategies I am introducing today involves leveraging existing infrastructure, such as railroad tracks and highways, to install solar panels and wind turbines.

Imagine a future where the 160,000 miles of railroad tracks in the U.S. are lined with solar panels, harnessing clean energy from coast to coast. These tracks, often running alongside highways and leading to major cities, present a unique opportunity to integrate renewable energy sources into our daily lives seamlessly.

But we don’t stop there. With 48,765 miles of highways and interstates crisscrossing the country, we have even more space to incorporate solar panels and wind turbines. By strategically placing these renewable energy sources along existing infrastructure, we can create a new 21st-century grid that is efficient, sustainable, and resilient.

To further optimize our approach, we would be working with local universities to map out areas that would benefit most from either solar panels or wind turbines, thus further more cutting down the cost of this massive project. This data-driven strategy ensures that we maximize the impact of renewable energy investments, focusing on regions with the greatest potential for clean energy production.

This comprehensive plan aligns with the principles of the Green New Deal, offering a practical roadmap to a greener, more sustainable future. By harnessing the power of existing infrastructure and innovative technologies, we can pave the way for a cleaner, brighter tomorrow.
